Top Track: Pieces of Juno – Ocean Floor

Ever heard of “Northern Noir”? Those are the words Norwegian artist, composer and producer Pieces of Juno use to describe her own music. The work of Juno Jensen, her moniker, has undergone some stylistic changes over the past years, from instrumental bass-driven sonics to electronic pop, to name a few. With the third in her tetralogy of albums, Metanoia, she is following up the style that is dominating the previous two: a cinematic and gothic mix of electronic and acoustic tunes. The album title – Greek for changing one’s mind and a general symbol of change and awakening – seems descriptive for Pieces of Juno’s heretofore career. “Ocean Floor”, the first single from Metanoia, showcases how Juno also has developed as a lyricist and vocalist – in addition to being a powerful meditation on candour amidst a jazzy twilight.
