Top Track: Nils Bech – Why

Why is the first singel to be released from Nils Bech’s fifth album, Foolish Heart, which will be out 29th May. The album is about the break-up of his eight-year relationship, and the way in which it follows him afterwards. “The album is an interpretation of love that ended, but still exists in me”, says Bech.

Paper Magazine describes Why as “a striking, self-aware track that tells the story of someone feeling the need to hide elements of their past relationship rather than confront them.”, and describes Bech’s music as “poignant, electronic songs that are immensely vulnerable and raw”.

Bech had his breakthrough in 2016 with a spectacular interpretation of O Holy Night in TV series SKAM’s second season, and has made success in Norway and abroad with appearances at festivals such as Roskilde, The Venice Biennale and the Island Festival. In the fall of 2017 he sold out the Opera House in Oslo.

Why is produced by Mathias Humlen (FAKETHIAS, Softcore untd.), Vetle Junker (Aurora, Softcore untd.), Øyvind Mathisen (Cezinando, Ary, Gundelach) and feature guest appearances from Emilie Nicolas and Oslo Strings.
