Norwegian singer-songwriter Ane Brun, a household name in the Norwegian pop industry for well over a decade, is back with new single and music video ‘Don’t Run and Hide’.

Brun recently announced that she will be releasing a new full-length studio album this year – her first with just original material for five years – and head out on a UK and Ireland tour in December. While we have some months to wait until all this happens, ‘Don’t Run and Hide’ gives us plenty to be excited about in the meantime.

As per usual, Brun doesn’t rely on former soundscapes when releasing new music, as she continues to delve into new sonic expressions. ‘Don’t Run and Hide’ is a catchy, easy-to-digest pop track, but packs plenty of underlying substance. It is an intimate song, and the lyrics song by Brun’s soothing voice provokes feelings of insecurity, melancholy, and otherness.

“In ‘Don’t Run and Hide,’ I try to encourage and remind anyone who’s in a dark place not to isolate themselves and not disappear into a state of fear — to reach out and show their vulnerability.” Brun told Billboard earlier this week.

The music video, directed by Stian Andersen, was released earlier this week. It reflects the gloomy yet hopeful sentiment of the song, and leaves a mark on you after watching.

The currently untitled album is set for release later this year, and the UK and Ireland tour will take place on the following dates:
