The Carice Singers: Sounding North tour

at Cheltenham, London & Warwick

The vocal ensemble The Carice Singers are performing three concerts of Nordic Choral music across the UK this July. The tour starts in Cheltenham, followed by London, and ends in Warwick.

A regional exploration of Nordic choral music from the late nineteenth-century to the present day. The hour-long concert is designed to give its audience the broadest possible experience of Nordic choral sound, featuring ‘kulning’ (Swedish herding calls), Norwegian folk-singing, and ‘löyly’ (the sound of steam in a Finnish sauna).

Programme:

Icelandic hymn (arr. Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson) – Heyr, himna smiður
Edvard Grieg – Hvad est du dog skjøn
Wilhelm Stenhammar – September
Jean Sibelius – Rakastava
Kaija Saariaho – Nuits, Adieux
David Wikander – Förvårskväll
Matthew Whittall – Lauantaisauna
Per Nørgård – Maya Danser
