Collect 2019 will feature works from over 30 countries, in collaboration with 40 galleries across the globe. The fair is produced by the UK Crafts Council, and is an arena made to highlight international living artist making modern craft, art and design. Collect will occupy the whole of Saatchi Gallery for four days celebrating new and contemporary works.
Representing Norway is Galleri Format Oslo, which will present works by nine artists. The gallery was founded in 1991 and is Norway’s leading crafts gallery. Galleri Format Oslo is both an exhibition and sales venue for contemporary crafts in Norway, featuring ceramics, textile, metal, jewellery and glass. The goal for the gallery is to challenge established norms while highlighting key values in the field by actively bringing a wider spectrum of artistic practices to the foreground.
One of the artists featured by Galleri Format Oslo is metal artist and associate professor at the metal and jewellery department at Oslo National Academy of the arts: Leif Stangebye-Nielsen. His main focus is on silversmithing an hollow ware. Love of the material, the techniques and the tools used by Leif Stangebye-Nielsen are central to communicate and create experiences for the viewer.
The other eight Norwegian artists that will be featured at Collect 2019 are: Liv Blåvarp, Kari Håkonsen, Vidar Koksvik, Irene Nordli, Inger Johanne Rasmussen, Bente Skjøttgaard, Caroline Slotte and Marit Tingleff.
