Jackie Charles is the love child, band and alter ego of Norwegian vocalist and synth player Kaja Bremnes – accompanied by Andrew Steingold on guitar and Mesut Gürsov on drums. These three individuals, coming from disparate backgrounds, are brought together by a desire to use art to cope with the dystopian future the news cycle is serving them on a daily basis. When not on tour, the band divide their time between roof terrace bars in Berlin and on a Norwegian fishing boat. Based in the German capital, the trio work together on formulating this medicinal yet existentialist dream pop, which have been referred to as “summer music for anarchists”.
The track ‘Baby’ is taken from Jackie Charles’ latest album Future Fantasies, released earlier this year. Kaja reveals that the music video is about “how it feels to be on this earth when everything is overwhelming. And you want it all to end but you’re also terrified of that thought.”
